There are currently over 1200 known species of Zingiberaceae (Gingers) flourishing mainly in South East Asia. This month long exhibition showboats the wonders of Gingers.
Expose yourself to the wide variety of gingers and meet their widely known associates through trivia, specimens as well as delighting your senses through touch and smell as we bring you up close and personl with gingers.
View the artful strokes by Ms Sandy Ross Sykes (UK) who exhibits her work on Gingers in full colour glory. Stretching four metres long and almost 1 metre high, these four panelled, full colour paintings will more than justify your journey to this exhibit.
Sandy Ross Sykes has a background in Fine Art. In 2004 she completed two years at The Royal College of Art, London, where she specialized in painting Zingiberaceae. Since 2001 her paintings have been regularly exhibited in UK, Hong Kong and USA. In 2006 Sandy has been awarded Silver Gilt Medal by Royal Horticultural Society. After winning the prestigious Royal College of Art Society and Thames and Hudson prize, she has been working towards producing a book on her work. To this end she currently lives in Hong Kong and travels widely in the region painting Gingers not only in the rainforests but also in the mountains of South Western China.
